More makeup organization!

I really recommend using pegboard for vertical organization, it really clears up clutter.
After the makeup board, I realized that I didn't have a place to put my brushes, eyeliners, and lip pencils. I had this desk organizer from ross that I didn't really like, so why recycle it?

Materials:
-desk organizer (mine is metal and wire mesh)
-pliers and/or wire cutters
-hot glue
-ribbon

If you are cutting apart a metal or wire thing, you should probably use gloves. My hands hurt.

Making the thing:
1) Cut off the section of the desk organizer that you want to hang on the pegboard. (or put the whole thing on. I'm not the boss of you.) Be careful of all the sharp edges.

2) I had a lot of wires poking around, so to seal them up I used hot glue on the rough edges.

3) Glue the ribbon ends (or whatever you want it to hang from) onto the top two corners of the organizer.

4) Stuff it with all your makeup goodies and hang it up!

I might decorate it or something to look a little nicer, but for now it serves it's function.

My dog likes my glasses

She keeps chewing on them! I don't want to buy new glasses. I wear contacts most of the time anyway, and I would rather spend that money on things I can eat.

Repairing the thing:
These aren't really instructions, but I thought it might be useful for my fellow squint people.

This pair had both of the arms gnawed off. I took a pair of scratched up sunglasses and ripped off those arms, then used my faithful hot glue gun to complete the surgery.

This one only had one arm missing, but somehow it had gotten lost, so I said goodbye to a cheap pair of sunglasses and threaded wire through the holes where the tiny screw would have gone. I like this pair better because I can fold them up and put them in a case, unlike the pair I glued.
Hope this helps someone out there lol.

I have been holding back

I make a lot of things, but most of the time I deem the things I make or fix to not be worthy of a post.
This blog was an assignment from my psychology class. We were told to pick something we love and go crazy with it, as well as turning our blog into a free service. I will be continuing this blog long after the class. I have found something that sparks light in me when I am bored or doing things that do not really have any significance, and apparently some people like it.

Perfection was not a part of the assignment. I have to let go of that to make this project grow.

Toothbrush Case

My boyfriend Spencer lives in Carlsbad, so I am constantly traveling. Here's something I didn't have to spend money on that I use for every trip to see my cutie.

Materials:
-ziplock bag
-packing tape
-scissors
-toothbrush

Making the thing:
1) Get a plastic bag the length of the toothbrush.
2) Cut the bag to the width that will fit the toothbrush.

3) Tape the open side together.

4) Boom. One less thing you have to buy.

Makeup Board

One of my goals for the month (and for my life to be honest) is to get organized. I am starting with my bathroom. I went through all of my makeup and threw out old eyeshadows and things I didn't use anymore. Pintrest showed me a neat way of organizing makeup, so without further ado...

Materials:
-makeup
-magnets
-hot glue
-rope or ribbon
-baking pan

Making the thing:
1) Plug in the hot glue gun and glue some magnets on the back of your makeup. I put the magnets on the bottom, on the side closest to the hinge. This way it will prop the pallet up at a slight angle when it is placed on a flat surface.

2) Hot glue the rope or ribbon to the back of the top corners of the baking pan. This is what the board will hang from.

3) Once all of the glue has dried, put the magneted makeup on the baking pan and hang it up.

The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker...

I awoke this morning to the horrendous smell of a puppy accident. Poor Lucy had been sick in her kennel. I opened all the doors and windows, but even after cleaning up the mess, the stench was so strong that I felt the sudden urge to flee. My mom and I rounded up the candles and lit them, and after about 30 minutes or so I could breathe freely again.
I also discovered that my mom's favorite candle's wick had been completely burnt out, and so begins this tutorial.
Today I will show you how to recycle a candle.

Materials:
-candle
-mason jar or any glass container
-butter knife
-cotton string
-hot glue gun
-pot of water
-another glass container

Making the thing:
1) Get your candle and scoop out the wax with a butter knife or spoon. Be sure to keep the little peice of metal at the bottom of the wick.
2) Put the wax in the glass container (not the one that will be the candle).

3) Put the pot of water on medium heat on the stove and place the container of wax in the water.
4) Let the wax melt completely.

5) Cut a peice of string to be the wick.
6) Glue the piece of metal that was at the bottom of the original wick to the piece of string.

7) Dip the new wick in wax and let it dry.

8) Glue the metal piece to the bottom of the mason jar.

9) Pour the melted wax into the mason jar.

10) Hold the wick straight up until the candle hardens.
11) Trim the wick to the length you want.
12) The end!

What time is it???

AAAAADVENTURE TIME!
My boyfriend's kitchen fridge has an appalling lack of magnets. Obviously, this must be fixed.

Materials:
-sticker
-magnet sheet
-scissors
-exacto knife

Making the thing:

It's pretty self explanatory.

And I made more :)
The end.
